This course focuses on analyzing and evaluating the portrayal of history in films against the historical reality of actual events, and discussing the cultural forces that shaped the making of these films. Students are asked to think critically about the use of film as a source for learning about historical events and issues. Please note: Although the viewing of films is an important part of this course, other primary and secondary sources play a significant role in fulfilling the goals of the class.
